For the first time, BASF offers neopentyl glycol (NPG) and propionic acid (PA) with a zero-carbon cradle-to-gate (PCF) footprint, according to the company.
BASF has achieved zero PCF for NPG and PA through its Biomass Balance (BMB) approach using renewable feedstock in its integrated production system. As for NPG, BASF also uses renewable energy sources for its production.
The new products are plug and play solutions: according to the company, they have the same quality and performance as standard products, allowing customers to use them in production without adapting existing processes.
Powder paints are an important area of application for NPG, especially for the construction and automotive industries, as well as household appliances. Polyamide is fully biodegradable and can be used as a fungicide to preserve food and feed grains. Other applications include the production of plant protection products, fragrances and fragrances, pharmaceuticals, solvents and thermoplastics.
